Hayat al-Flooz

As a wee-one in the Heartland, writing was my pleasure, solace and therapy all in one. As I settle into unsettled living in New York City, it is due time to reconnect with my old friend. Enjoy the attempted intellectual musings and personal reflections; comment with reckless abandon. Welcome to the life of Flooz.

a quick show of hands?

is the hoopla over the Baker-Hamilton committee's upcoming report called for? does this group of cold-warriors (the spring chicken of the group is 67, the vast majority of members are about 75) have the ability to think through our Middle East problems through a radically different lens? is that even their function? what do we think, dear readers?

Hoopla is totally uncalled for, save for the fact that Bush is finally listening to people who aren't afraid to disagree with him. Personally, I think we should set up a short timetable for a total troop withdrawal, and then hope and pray that in 100 years the Iraqis - or, more precisely, the three major cultures living in the country soon to be formerly known as Iraq - still don't hate us.
